#3 Lech, Austria
18 - 20 December 2009

The charming romantic town of Lech has long been known as a resort attracting royalty and film stars, and with good reason. Part of the extensive Arlberg region, Lech and interconnected Zurs are renowned snow traps. The modern lift system – including heated chairs! – opens up to a large and diverse network of varied pistes suited to all levels – including some accessible off-piste for the experts. Skiing up to 2450 metres, a very good chance of deep snow, and wonderful mountain restaurants make this a good choice for all. One day of lessons with the local ski school is offered, and more activities are proposed for the second day (see below). Now it’s definitely time to start your season!

You can finish your Christmas shopping at the Christmas Market, or with the rich and famous in the Strolz store (have a drink in the bar there). If you are feeling affluent treat yourself to their custom-fitted ski boots. The town has an abundant choice of excellent venues to relax after the skiing day – many already well known to experienced FSCers.

Our hotel, the friendly 3*** Lärchenhof, is in a quiet location just five minutes from the town centre. The well known Madloch run ends at the hotel doorstep and the cross-country skiing Loipe start here. The hotel’s wellness area has a steam room and sauna.

Do not miss the legendary Weisse Ring of trails that encircles Lech and Zurs.
Main disadvantage – risk of being snowed-in. Main advantage – risk of being snowed-in!
