#7 Verbier, Switzerland 29 - 31 January 2010
This trip offers the possibility to discover (if you don't know it yet) and enjoy one of the best ski areas in the Alps at an affordable price. This area is the biggest one in Switzerland, actually referred to as "4 vallées", which offers 92 lifts and more than 410 km of slopes linking err, well... 4 valleys : Verbier-La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, and Thyon. Two days will surely not be enough to discover even most of it, but maybe, with our Übungsleiter, the best of it? We will concentrate on the Verbier/Mont-Fort sectors and its very modern lift infrsastructure. Our Übungsleiter will take you to the blue and red runs of Attelas/Ruinettes, Lac des Vaux, or la Chaux, and for the expert groups to the col des Gentianes, the steeeeeep black run of the Mont-Fort, and the long mogul runs of Tortin and Chassoure, probably the most difficult ones in the Alps. Optional: if we have enough freestylers, we will visit the Swatch Snowpark in La Chaux and its new attraction "Shoot my ride" with the Big Air Bag. And let's not forget the freeriding afficionados, who will have a large choice of off-piste routes and couloirs around the col des Gentianes (for example the famous "stairway to heaven") or Chassoure (the "col de la mouche"), or in lower parts of the area (col des mines or vallon d'Arbi). Both sectors offer some of the best restaurants in the Alps - Chez Dany, le Mayen, Cabane Mont-Fort etc. Unless you'd like to try the igloo at the very top, or the mongolian fondue at the bar 1936? Down the slopes, we'll finish the day by the p** Mont-Fort or the Fer a Cheval, before taking the gondolas down to La Chaux. Our 3* hotel du Forclaz is based in Martigny, so the bus will drive us directly to/from the bottom of the gondolas. |
