If you like back-country then Andermatt is a must. It's a small village located in the heart of the Gotthard region and is one of the closest freeride areas to Frankfurt. Andermatt's main peak – the Gemstock – offers the best access to the back-country routes, and it also offers access to a variety of groomed runs for those who prefer the piste. The G-Park at Gurschenalp gives you a chance to show off your tricks and jumps.
On the other side of the village is the Gotthard-Bahn to take you to the areas of Sedrun and Oberalppass with a greater range of intermediate and beginner runs and more fun park obstacles.
Free-riders might well want to explore the back-country routes to Guspis or Felsental down to Hospental, or try the “Giraffe” route down to Unteralp or the famous “Russi” run. FSC recommends only venturing off-piste fully equipped and with a qualified guide.
We stay at the newly rennovated Hotel Piz Badus, just a 10 minute walk to the Gemstock cabin car and even nearer to the Sedrun gondola. On Saturday night our TC will book one of Andermatt's fine choice of restaurants, and let's not forget après-ski at locations such as the Spycher and Alte Apotheke. It is certainly worth taking a look at the 5* Chedi hotel, one of the developments of Andermatt's famous Egyptian entrepreneur Samih Sawiris.
We are doing our best to offer exciting and safe trips for our season 2024 / 25. Please try to support the club as much as you can so that we can offer you more trips to the mountains.
